This event culminates in the globally recognised Wines and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Course run by Canarias Wine Academy, an Approved Programme Provider (APP) in Spain for WSET Qualifications.

What is WSET Level 1 in Wines?
The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is an introductory course designed for beginners looking to explore the world of wine. This qualification provides fundamental knowledge on key grape varieties, wine styles, and basic winemaking processes. Through guided tastings using WSET’s Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT), students learn to describe wines accurately and gain confidence in making food and wine pairings.
The course consists of a minimum of six hours of study and concludes with a 30-question multiple-choice exam. It is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in wine, whether for personal enjoyment or professional development.
What’s Included in WSET Level 1 in Wines?
When you enrol in the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, you will receive:
- E-book Study Material – Access to the official WSET study guide upon registration to start preparing in advance.
- 8-Hour Course – A full day of expert-led instruction covering key grape varieties, wine styles, tasting techniques, and food & wine pairing.
- Final Exam – A 30-question multiple-choice test to assess your knowledge.
- Official WSET Certificate & Digital Badge – Recognised worldwide, proving your achievement and expertise.
The course will be held at Bodegas El Grifo on Saturday the 28th June and can be booked separately, although the idea of the two-day event will be to take wine lovers on a wine and culinary journey, with wine, food and of course the course costs all included in the package.

Two-Day Wine Experience
The aim of this experience is to introduce the fundamentals of wine and viticulture to attendees in a relaxed and informal environment on day 1. We will visit two wineries for full behind the scenes tours which will help build a picture for the course and WSET exam the following day. This experience includes everything as laid out below. We suggest staying in Puerto del Carmen.
Friday, 27th June (Day 1)
10:30 – Meet at a central location near Fariones Hotel in Puerto del Carmen or at Bodegas El Grifo at 11:00.
11:00-12:30 – Tour of Bodegas El Grifo, one of Lanzarote’s most iconic wineries, with 3 wine tastings.
13:00-14:30 – Enjoy a delicious tapas lunch at a traditional Canarian restaurant.
15:00-16:30 – Visit an artisan winery for a tour, 3 wine tastings, and a Lanzarote goats’ cheese tasting.
17:00 – Return to Puerto del Carmen.
Saturday, 28th June (Day 2)
9:30 – Meet at the central location near Fariones Hotel in Puerto del Carmen or at El Grifo.
10:00-18:00 – WSET Level 1 Course & Exam at Bodegas El Grifo run by Canarias Wine Academy including a “bocadillo” and locally brewed Craft Beer from Cerveza Malpeis.
18:30 – Return to Puerto del Carmen.
20:00 – Closing dinner at Vino+, a renowned wine bar in Puerto del Carmen.
